Aziza Mustafa Zadeh wurde 1969 in Baku in eine Musikerfamilie hineingeboren. Ihr Vater Vagif Mustafa Zadeh, bekannt fr seine Jazz-Improvisationen, gilt heute als Grnder des aserbaidschanischen Mugham-Jazz. Ihre Mutter Eliza, eine klassisch ausgebildete Sngerin, trat als erste mit diesem Musikstil auf. Aziza folgte dieser musikalischen Tradition.
Bereits mit 17 gewann sie den Thelonious-Monk Klavierwettbewerb in Washington D.C. Von da an begann sie Ihren ganz eigenen Musikstil zu entwickeln. Fr diesen Stil, einer Kombination aus Jazz, Scat-Gesang klassischer Klaviermusik und dem aserbaidschanischen Mugham, ist die Pianistin, Komponistin und Sngerin heute international bekannt. Fr ihr Album Always wurde sie 1994 mit dem Echo und dem Jazz Award des Deutschen Phonoverbands ausgezeichnet. Mit contrasts II verffentlichte Aziza Mustafa Zadeh 2007 bereits ihr zehntes Album. Die auch als Prinzessin des Jazz bezeichnete Jazz-Knstlerin fllt Konzerthallen in allen Teilen der Welt. Aziza Mustafa Zadeh lebt derzeit in ihrer Wahlheimat Mainz.
